It’s back to school and it can be kind of a struggle to get back into the swing of things. Not to worry though, an Ice Cream Social will help ease the kids into getting excited about school again. A quick ice cream social is a great way to build community, meet people, and make new friends. Invite everyone, from your child’s teacher next door neighbor, or any new family’s joining your district.
Plus it’s a perfect way to eat ice cream before it's too cold out! We suggest you transform your backyard into the build-your-own ice cream bar, or host at your local community center or school. |

First Up, Ice cream
Believe it or not, choosing ice-cream flavors is much easier than it seems. Stick with a traditional vanilla and chocolates of the bunch, they’re the perfect canvas for your kids to experiment with toppings. Don’t forget to pick up a few dairy free options like sherberts, for those kids with allergies as well! To help children and adults alike, try pre scooping your ice cream in bowls in advance for a hassle free clean up.
Toppings
Sky’s the limit. Seriously. According to Kristin Appenbrink, the ice cream queen, there are four categories of toppings; healthy (berries, and dried fruit), sauces (caramel, chocolate fudge etc.), sweets (sprinkles, gummy bears, chocolate chips, etc.), and crunchy (nuts, cereal, coffee bits, etc.).
Try going all out and having a little bit of each category, a clever way to serve them are in our lovely mason jars. To avoid misunderstandings, label each topping with our chalkboard signs. |

Cones, bowls, or … ? As much as we love a crunchy cone, it can be slightly hard to eat and talk at the same time without your scoop melting on you. A perfect way to make sure that you don’t get sticky hands, are our lovely dessert bowls and glittered cups, pair them with a spoon and you’re set to go. Not only will they help you socialize during the event but hold more toppings than a traditional cone. If this option doesn’t float your boat, try literally making floats! Add sprite to any sherbert or rootbeer to any vanilla based ice cream for a vintage mix. Your kiddos will have so much fun watching the bubbles as well as the taste of this fun fizzy drink. |

Decorations
To make your bar into a downright crowd pleaser add a few DIY accents. For example, using ordinary balloons (honeycombs or pom poms also apply) and scrap paper, you can craft lovely suspending ice creams or even make a charming garland out of ice cream popsicles and glittered foam sheets
Or our adorable balloon kits are always perfect to set the ball rolling, while plastic tablecloths and table skirts will save your nerves. |
